Some tips on interview

Read this in the teachers forums on some advice that master teachers are dishing for senior teacher wannabe. I think the following interview tips are applicable not just for ST interviews but for any other, whether we are interviewing for a new job or a higher appointment in our organisation.

"One of the things that helped me through my own interview is that I tell myself that I must not want the job so badly till it shows. I also tell myself that I will want the interview to let me know if I am really ready for the job or not. And if I am not ready, then I want to learn what it is, that I am still lacking in. When I adopt this attitude, I realize that I become less tensed and can perform better as I can focus better. Also where I am ignorant or do not know something, I either clarify [so that I understand better what they are really asking] or just tell them honestly that I do not know the answer. To me, an interview like this is also a chance for me to learn something about myself from other people's perspective." - Mrs June Fong, Master Teacher in Biology.

  1. Erm, on a related topic, what do they ask in a teaching interview? On the content on the subject to be taught? On classroom management? On passion in teaching? Passion can be faked one right? How then do they judge i wonder?
